Miniluxe: What does “Take the Lead” mean to you?

Hang: Standing up for something that calls to you.

MiniLuxe: What does “Inspire Others” mean to you?

Hang: Mouth closed and ears open.

MiniLuxe: Tell us your story – what makes you tick, how did you get into nails?

Hang: I was pregnant with my first daughter when I decided to get into nails. I didn’t know nail art was any where near as big as it was so I was super stoked about this new path I was on. I studied art in college so this was quite exciting for me, seeing that I can create art and get paid for it, the starving artist thing was getting a little old. Hah!

MiniLuxe: What inspired you and who or what motivates you?

Hang: I never envisioned myself doing nails. It was just a stir of the moment choice but when I got into it and saw the world of nail art, that’s what kept me in the game.

MiniLuxe: Describe a day in the life of Hang.

Hang: Kids, kids and more kids, mini nail break and back to kids. That’s pretty much sums it up during these times. Though, I’ve moved to England and I’ve been getting a lot of help from my mother and father in law so we’ve been able to sneak out for day-date trips to explore England a bit more.

MiniLuxe: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received, and how did you put it into action?

Hang: Don’t take life too seriously. When I’m in a bad mood certain days I try my very best to remind myself this and remember that things will pass and although it may seem serious now, it’ll be a blip of nothingness a few days later.

MiniLuxe: What advice do you have for others who may be looking to take the jump and do something new or challenging or totally THEM but they may be scared or have hesitations?

Hang:  I say to just do it!! At least you’ve done it and know that it did or didn’t work out. Rather than have to wonder “what if” all your life.

MiniLuxe: What keeps you grounded/together?

Hang: My husband James. He definitely helps bring me back from my fears and doomsday thoughts I have every now and then. Forever grateful he is more balanced than me and zaps my nonsense thinking every now and then.

MiniLuxe: Who do you most admire and why?

Hang:  I admire people who have the courage to start a business from scratch. It still amazes me how people imagine something and then put it into fruition out of the blue. I’m figuring out how I can get some of that drive.

MiniLuxe: Share a time you took a risk to move yourself forward. How did you decide to make that move?

Hang:  The only thing I can think of was when I was in college studying as a Bio-chem major. My parents sort of guilted me into it, but I decided to switch over to art because it just made me happy. I got the courage to not listen to what my parents wanted and instead did what I wanted to do.

MiniLuxe: What role have mentors played in your life?

Hang: I would say spiritual teachers play a great role in my life. I traveled to India on a spiritual journey and I would say that has been the most memorable and impactful experience I’ve had in my life. Lots of great mentors there who taught me about the “eb and flow” of life….whatever that means. Hah!

MiniLuxe: Do you have a favorite mantra or quote? What does this “do” for you?

Hang: A Hate Krisna chanting I do keeps me calm for some reason…

MiniLuxe: What would you tell your younger (more naïve) self?

Hang: I would tell myself social media can either waste your time and ego, or you can use it to your benefit to work on your art. I’d also tell myself to get on YouTube and share my creativity.

MiniLuxe: Representation matters. What advice would you give to women when they don’t see representation in their careers or sphere of influence?

Hang: I’d say that with great social media platforms such as Instagram or Tik Tok, post your creativity so you can be heard and have more of an impact. It takes time but I feel it can be very effective if done consistently and tactfully.

MiniLuxe: If you could have one wish for change, what would it be?

Hang: For everyone to vote this year!!!

MiniLuxe: Favorite animal?

Hang: A Koala or Panda.

MiniLuxe: Favorite color?

Hang: Blue.

MiniLuxe: Favorite movie?

Hang: Inglorious Bastards.

MiniLuxe: Favorite book?

Hang: Many lives Many Masters.

MiniLuxe: Who’s the first person you call when you get good news?

Hang:  My husband James.

MiniLuxe: If you were going to host an un-socially distanced dinner party – in theory –  who would you invite and why?

Hang: The few friends I have and family.

MiniLuxe: What’s brought you the most joy during these last few months?

Hang: Seeing my kids grow. Yes, some days in quarantine it’s definitely been difficult not being able to do outdoor activities with them, or go to the playgrounds, but being able to have extra time with them has been pretty sweet. Though I do still have days I want to pull my hair out as well.

MiniLuxe: Most played song on your Spotify list/what would your theme song be?

Hang: I listen to Pandora… I tend to put on an old school Mariah Carey song which then plays most of my favorites 90s songs with it.
